Emergency Care Always Available
NorthShore’s Emergency Room is always open, providing care for children’s trauma and serious illness. A range of pediatric specialists and subspecialists are on call.
Inpatient Pediatrics Unit
When children need medical procedures, surgery or hospitalization for illness or trauma, NorthShore’s inpatient Pediatrics Unit stands ready. The nursing staff and supporting health professionals are experienced not only in caring for children but also in meeting their emotional and social needs.
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
Transporting children for specialized medical care can delay treatment for hours. That’s why NorthShore’s PICU is a true community resource. The PICU offers advanced treatment for serious illness, trauma and post-surgical care. The unit is staffed and equipped for young patients ages one month to 18 years of age. Led by a pediatric medical director, the staff of nursing specialists and nurses have pediatrics training and decades of experience. A pediatric nurse practitioner, an advanced practice nurse, specializes in pediatric care and family education, works with patients in the PICU and inpatient unit.
